About EmoCare

Who built this, why it exists, and what it isn't.

EmoCare is a free, anonymous space to put feelings into words when you need somewhere to put them. No signup, no paywall, no app to install. You type, and something thoughtful answers.

The short version: EmoCare is built by one engineer, not a clinic. It's an AI companion for the ordinary weight of being human — not therapy, and not a crisis service. It's free because support at 2 AM shouldn't require a credit card.

Why this exists

Most emotional support arrives on a schedule. Therapy has waitlists, business hours, and a cost that puts it out of reach for a lot of people. But difficult feelings don't keep appointments — they show up at 3 AM, on a Sunday afternoon, in the fifteen minutes before a hard conversation.

There's a real gap between "I'm in crisis and need a hotline" and "I'd like a course of therapy." Most days sit in that gap: you're not in danger, you're just carrying something heavy and would rather not carry it silently. EmoCare is built for that gap — a place to think out loud, immediately, without explaining yourself to anyone or creating an account first.

Who builds it

EmoCare is built and maintained by Abhishek Gupta, a software engineer. It started as a personal project and is run independently — there's no company, no investors, and no growth team behind it.

An important disclosure: I'm an engineer, not a therapist, psychologist, or medical professional. I don't have clinical credentials, and I'm not going to pretend otherwise on a mental health site. What I can offer is a carefully built tool, honest limits, and a genuine commitment to keeping it free and private. What I can't offer is clinical judgment — and where you need that, this page will keep pointing you elsewhere.

How it works

What EmoCare is not

Being clear about limits matters more than sounding impressive:

If you're in crisis right now, please reach a person instead. In the US, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline). In the UK, call Samaritans on 116 123. In India, call iCall on 9152987821. In Canada, call 1-833-456-4566. Anywhere else, findahelpline.com lists options by country.

How it stays free

Running EmoCare costs money — AI usage, hosting, and a domain. It's funded out of pocket and by optional donations from people who found it useful. There's no premium tier and no plan to add one; nothing about the service is locked behind payment. If it helped you and you'd like to chip in, there's a support link on the home page, but it's genuinely optional.

Where it's going

EmoCare is deliberately small. Rather than becoming a platform with dashboards and streaks, it's growing as a set of focused tools you can use in a few minutes and then close: the conversation itself, guided breathing and grounding practices, and a ritual for letting go of a regret. The bar for anything new is simple — does this help someone feel a little lighter in the next five minutes?
