EmoCare ("we", "our") is a free AI emotional-support chat. Your trust matters, so this page lays out — in plain language — what we collect, why, and what your choices are.
The short version: we collect what's needed to make the chat work and to understand whether the service is helping people. We don't sell your data. You can use EmoCare without an account.
What we collect
Chat input — the mood, concern, tone, name (optional), and messages you type into the chat. This is sent to our AI provider to generate responses.
Session ID — a random identifier stored in your browser's local storage to maintain conversation continuity within a session.
Usage analytics — via Google Analytics: page views, approximate location (country level), device type, and anonymous interaction events (e.g. button clicks, donation modal opens).
Server logs — standard request metadata (IP address, user agent, timestamp) when your browser talks to our API, retained for short-term debugging and abuse prevention.
What we do NOT collect
We do not require an account, email, or password.
We do not collect payment information directly — donations are handled entirely by Ko-fi and PayPal.
We do not sell, rent, or share your chat content with advertisers.
Third parties we use
AI provider — chat messages are processed by an LLM via a third-party API to generate responses. Messages may be temporarily retained by the provider for safety / abuse-prevention per their policy.
Ko-fi — donations link out to Ko-fi's platform; their privacy policy applies once you leave EmoCare.
AWS — our backend infrastructure runs on Amazon Web Services.
Your choices
Skip GA — block analytics with a browser extension, or decline cookies if your browser supports a consent flow.
Clear your session — close the tab or clear your browser's local storage to remove the session identifier.
Don't share sensitive info — please don't paste passwords, financial details, or other people's identifying information into the chat.
Data retention
Session identifiers in your browser expire after 24 hours. Server-side logs are kept for up to 30 days for operational purposes. Chat content sent to the AI provider follows their retention policy.
Children
EmoCare is intended for users 16 and older. If you are under 16, please speak to a trusted adult or use age-appropriate resources like Kids Help Phone (Canada) or equivalent in your region.
